im thinking about getting either a 240sx or (if i can find one!) an ae86. i want something i can do an engine swap on and turbo.the thing is i live in california and everytime i ask this question i never get a strait answer...if i do a jdm engine swap with turbo can i pass smog? i read in mags about people in cali doing this all the time but they never say how they get past smog. so if anyone here has experience with this i would appreciate some info..thanx smile

it depends on houw your engine is tuned. people in mags usually have project cars that are not street legal. JDM engines usually arent smog legal because there arent suck strick EPA laws there. So...it depends on the engine you pick.

i dont have much knowledge of the spoken car, but probably you wont. a way to make a smog pass is pay the testing guy some money to just bs and write something fake by dynoing another car or something. if you know a friend who can do that, itll be less hassle.
